Er04 "No Plasma" Only When Wire Welding

has anyone run into an er04 no plasma detected error specifically when wire welding the machine works normally when fusion welding with the standard torch setup as soon as i install the whip on the extension tube for wire welding i start getting er04 i can remove the whip and go right back to fusion welding without any issues the manual says er04 means the plasma detection feature isn t detecting plasma during welding but doesn t give much information on what would cause it has anyone experienced this with the wire welding setup anything specific with the whip extension tube alignment or setup that i should be checking i ve tried replacing the following already without any luck extension tube collet bayonet cover lens focus lens new whip
